20 Wedding Hair Pieces We Absolutely Adore

Your big day is one of those times when you’ll want to pull out all the stops as far as fashion goes. Don’t stop at the dress; your hair needs an accessory too! One or more of these 20 stunning wedding hair pieces are guaranteed to have you at “hello”.

CRYSTAL MIST

This piece is a delicate spray of crystals, typically mounted on a comb or clip.

Best Hairstyle and Hair Type:
Wear this piece as an accessory to an updo in thick hair This is a larger piece and should complement the hairstyle rather than compete with it.
Gown Style:
Pair with a strapless gown that has similar detail, such as small flowers or other white crystal accents. Be sure your other jewelry is similar as well.

PEARL PERFECTION

Reminiscent of Cinderella, this is a simple and elegant three-strand pearl headband.

Best Hairstyle and Hair Type:
Thick headbands like this work well as simple accents to straightforward hairstyles like this clean, high bun.
Gown Style:
Pair with a long, wide-strapped or halter gown that has classic, clean lines.
Tip:
This look would be fantastic with gloves!

DOUBLED UP

This gorgeous double-strand beaded headband is likely anchored with bobby pins behind each ear.

Best Hairstyle and Hair Type:
This piece may be solid, like regular headbands, or loose, like the flow of a necklace. Either way, this style should be anchored behind the ears and worn in a large but free-flowing hairstyle like this one with lots of texture.
Gown Style:
Pair with a strapless gown that has similar details and clean lines.

DAINTY SUSANS

Delicate black-eyed Susan flowers on a solid, three-strand headband are held in place at the ends inside the hairstyle.

Best Hairstyle and Hair Type:
This is a great accessory for those with fine hair because it’s not overpowering. Those with thick hair can wear it as well. The design complements curly and other texturized hairstyles very well!
Gown Style:
This piece would look great paired with a gown made with light, airy fabric or has similar flower accents.

BOLD BOW

This big bow is the center of attention on this multi-textured updo!

Best Hairstyle and Hair Type:
Bold accessories require big, bold hair. Use this clip in thick hairstyles and position it so that it goes with the flow of the hairstyle. Notice how this one follows the flow of the bun.
Gown Style:
If you like avant garde gowns, this accessory is for you! Not only is it a great statement piece for your hair, but you can use it with your regular clothing too after the big day.
Tip:
An accessory like this can easily take center stage. Be sure you can’t see it from the front or it will take attention away from your beautiful face in all your photos!

CRYSTAL CROWN

This tall crown fashioned from clear crystals really gives off a regal vibe.

Best Hairstyle and Hair Type:
A crown this detailed is best set off by thick hair styled into a disheveled updo. The contrast of the dark hair color is a great backdrop for showing off the crown’s intricate details.
Gown Style:
Match this headpiece with a dress that has equally intricate details. Because it’s pretty big, it would look best with a one-shouldered or strapless dress so the overall look isn’t too heavy.

STAND-ALONE SPINS

These spin pin flowers can be placed on their own or in a cluster within your hairstyle!

Best Hairstyle and Hair Type:
These single spin pins are great for all hair types! They don’t overpower fine hair and are easy to add to any hairstyle. Simply place them where you want them, and turn the metal twist into your style.
Gown Style:
Because of how many different shapes and styles of these pins there are, you can use them with virtually any gown. Remember to coordinate the style of the hair pins so they match your jewelry and the accents on your dress!

NATURE’S CALLING

These flowers represent a sort of sepia finish, giving your look a rustic elegance.

Best Hairstyle and Hair Type:
Hairstyles that incorporate soft waves or curls are a great match for this hair accessory. This piece is a bit on the heavy side, so if you have fine hair, wear it in a low updo before adding this to the back of the hairstyle.
Gown Style:
Pair these flowers with a dress of simple lines and flowy fabrics. It will fit in perfectly with “rustic charm” wedding themes!

OLD WORLD STYLE

This cluster of flowers large and small keeps things interesting by incorporating various sizes.

Best Hairstyle and Hair Type:
Thick hair supports these larger accessories best, though fine hair that is properly teased underneath would be great as well. Choose a hairstyle that has large flowing sections.
Gown Style:
Gowns with lace detail work beautifully with these peach roses. Alternately, a strapless or one-sided gown would balance the flowers nicely as well.

SILKY SWAG

A large, silk bow adds flash and flair to your wedding day look!

Best Hairstyle and Hair Type:
This smooth and simple accessory works best with simple hairstyles such as this high bun. Choose a hairstyle with lots of height so that the hair supports the accessory and the bow doesn’t overpower your face.
Gown Style:
Choose a gown in a fabric that has texture. It will contrast the smooth finish of the bow very nicely.

FOREFLOWERS

This flower and pearl headband can be worn as normal, or over the forehead as shown in the photo!

Best Hairstyle and Hair Type:
A low chignon or twisted hairstyle would complement this headpiece perfectly and it can be incorporated into both fine and thick hairstyles.
Gown Style:
This accessory is balanced perfectly with a strapless gown and veil that’s worn in the middle of the back of the head.
Tip:
When requesting a low updo, be sure the hairstyle is full enough in the back that you can see some of it from the front. If you can’t see enough from the front, you risk looking like you just have your hair pulled into a ponytail.

PERFECT PEARLS

A simple clip with two rows of pearls is the classic complement to an ornate dress.

Best Hairstyle and Hair Type:
Pair this crown with either an up or down full hairstyle.
Gown Style:
This crown works well with many gown styles as well. Be sure to match the detail on the crown to the detail on your dress.

FEATHER FLAIR

A light and airy feather clip is a fun way to add a unique touch to your look!

Best Hairstyle and Hair Type:
Since this accessory is multi-textured, it will look best paired with a smooth hairstyle that has lots of volume.
Gown Style:
Pair this accessory with a strapless, one-shoulder, or halter gown that also has feather details or one that is smooth and simple.

THE FINER THINGS

Pearls and feathers come together for a unique accessory that looks great worn off to the side.

Best Hairstyle and Hair Type:
The dangling pearls in this clip make it ideal for both placing it in the front or the back of your hairstyle. If you place it in front, place it just above and to the side of your temple.
Gown Style:
Because this accessory is detailed, you’ll want to pair it with a similarly detailed dress that is strapless or single-sided.

PRETTY PASTELS

Add a pop of color to your big day look with lovely orchids!

Best Hairstyle and Hair Type:
These larger flowers look best in a hairstyle that is full of volume and curls. Thick hair is best, but fine hair is okay too as long as there is a good base underneath so the flowers can be pinned securely.
Gown Style:
Pair these beauties with a strapless or one-shoulder dress. They will look great with both modern floral textures as well as simple, smooth dresses.

BOOM BOOM POW!

Pack a punch of style with this bold hair accessory!

Best Hairstyle and Hair Type:
Keep it super simple with your hair if you choose this accessory. It is loud and proud, so you don’t want your hair competing for attention. A large, clean bun worn high on the head is best and you can add extensions to get the bun as thick as the model’s in this photo.
Gown Style:
Strapless princess dresses that have gathered organza from the waist down will look fabulous with this hairpiece!
If you follow our style cues and from toes to tiara, everything will be just right on your special day. Smile big, laugh loud, and love lots with these stunning wedding hair pieces!

2015 WEDDING AND BRIDAL HAIRSTYLES - TRENDS, TUTORIALS AND TIPS

Getting married soon and trying to find wedding hairstyles? We’re here to help! This section is dedicated to everything wedding and bridal hairstyles. We have all of the latest trends, tutorials, advice and tips!
When you think of a whimsical wedding, a winter wonderland certainly isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. But for the boho bride that wants to add a touch of glam to her big day, the colder months are the perfect time to tie the knot. Say “I do” to any one of these boho-inspired winter wedding hairstyles, and you’ll totally be floating on cloud 9.

THE HALF HALO BRAID

Whether you’re a bohemian princess or a down-to-earth bride with a flare for all things vintage, rest assured, this stunning, half up half down hairdo strikes the perfect balance between classy and casual. We adore how a delicate, embellished lace headband is placed directly in front of the mini halo braid to really give it that bridal feel. Sweeping the bottom section of hair to one side and adding a few soft curls makes this wedding day look one for the books; it’s simply to die for!

THE BLACK BRAID WITH WAVES

For a winter wedding day ‘do that’s just as bold and beautiful as you, ask your stylist for a creative twist on the traditional back of the head braid: think a small ladder braid or a double waterfall braid paired with a statement-making floral crown and long, loose curls to lend the look an air of romance.

 THE UNDONE HALF UP BUN

If you’re a huge fan of the top knot, but would never consider wearing your hair completely up for your nuptials, why not try the half up bun? We love how undone this style looks, particularly with scattered baby’s breath decorating the knot. Thanks to the curls though, it’s still utterly glamorous and absolutely ideal for a wedding. Make sure your stylist leaves a couple inch sections of hair out in the front to softly frame your face.

SOFT, ROMANTIC CURLS

Steal Lauren Conrad’s signature look for your big day, except with a little bit more of a bohemian vibe. Soft, romantic curls are a great go-to for any bride with long locks. They’re not only timeless, but they’re totally winter appropriate too (and might even keep your shoulders and chest warm!). Topped off with a fresh floral crown, you’ll be the essence of a natural beauty.

 THE WHIMSICAL SIDE BRAID

Perfectly imperfect is the best way to describe this breathtaking side braid. It’s everything a boho bride could want and more, especially with that floral halo. The good news is, it easily works for medium-length locks, as you can see. Have your stylist create tousled waves in your hair prior to braiding it. For a messier, more undone look, allow a few strands to stick out of the braid, as opposed to pinning them.

THE BOHO GLAM FISHTAIL

Just because you’re a boho babe doesn’t mean your hair can’t have a bit of bedazzle, right? A luxe flower and chain headpiece situated where this bride’s bangs begin dresses up her side fishtail braid beautifully. This style is definitely a ‘do for an elegant bohemian winter affair.

THE EFFORTLESSLY ELEGANT PINNED BACK CHIGNON

Another gorgeous updo for the boho bride with bangs, this pretty pinned back chignon would look beyond enchanting with a wedding dress featuring an ornate back (or basically any back you want to show off as you walk down the aisle)! It’s carefree yet sophisticated all at once. Add an intricate branch headpiece like the bride pictured, and you’ll be glowing from head to toe.

7 Wedding Hairstyles For Black Women That Are Anything But Boring

I hear wedding bells! Wait, what about the something borrowed and something blue? Oh, and don’t forget about the hairdo! Honestly, there’s absolutely no way around it; you have to have the right hairstyle to complete your perfect wedding day look. From traditional to trendy, these seven gorgeous wedding hairstyles for black women are sure to complement a beautiful wedding party and a breath taking bride!

SIDE SWEPT UPDO

This side swept updo is simple, but has a touch of pizzazz. It is a style that’s ideal for the bride with a veil to be uncovered. The comb of the veil would be very easy to place being that the top of the hair is smoothed down. Your guests will love the back of your hair with its’ perfectly pinned and tossled look as you walk past them down the aisle!

How To Style:
  1. After the hair is shampooed & conditioned, distribute a dime size drop of the GS Grape Seed Oil throughout the hair and proceed to blow-dry.
  2. After hair is dried, continue to curl the hair in big barrel size curls. Take chunky sections of the hair to curl and pin curl as you go to preserve the curl. (Make sure to curl the front in the direction you desire to style it.)
  3. Once the hair is curled, release the pins and begin to smooth the edges and top of the hair. Take the front and style it as desired (bangs optional). Begin smoothing the hair toward the back right side and secure it with pins.
  4. Now get creative! Spray a light mist of the Joicos’ Holding Spray, then take sections of the remaining curled hair, smooth it, then reroll it with you fingers to sculpt and pin until you get your finished look! For added shine, finish the look with a mist of Finishing Spray.

SIDE SWEPT UPDO II

How adorable is this updo?! Take the seductive approach with the heavy swoop bang in the front. Instead of the traditional veil, try a hair jewel or tiara to complement the look!

How To Style:
  1. After the hair is shampooed & conditioned, proceed sectioning off a horseshoe size area from brow to brow and from the front of the hairline to the middle section of the head. Distribute some of the Foam throughout the hair, then roll and set this section with 1 ½ size rollers.
  2. After the top of hair is rolled, continue to mold the remaining section toward the center of the head similar to a Mohawk.  Roll and set the remaining section in the center and proceed to dryer for 45-60mn.
  3. Once the hair is dry, release the rollers and smooth the edges of the hair toward the center. Make sure that it’s as smooth as possible. Continue to braid the hair toward the top section. Once the braid is finished, refine and smooth the braid using pins where necessary.
  4. Take the remaining top section and part out a bang area. Shape that section into a seductive swoop.
  5. Now get creative! Take the remaining curled hair and gently pull apart the top curls with your fingers to sculpt and pin until you get you perfectly fit the face for the style. Finish the look with a mist of Finishing Spray for added shine!

THE PLAYFUL BOBBED BRIDE

How can you not fall in love with these playful curls? Styled into a sexy cascade draping the shoulders, the side swept bangs makes this style look even more romantic!

How To Style:
  1. After the hair is shampooed & conditioned, proceed sectioning off a horseshoe size area from brow to brow and from the front of the hairline to the middle section of the head. Distribute some of the Kercare Foam throughout the hair, then roll and set this section with 1 ½ size rollers.

  1. After the hair is shampooed & conditioned, using the Foam, proceed to roll and set the entire head backward with 4” size rollers.
  2. Once the hair is dry, release the rollers and section off a horseshoe size area from brow to brow and from the front of the hairline to the middle section of the head and smooth it into a large pin curl.
  3. Take the remaining bottom half and smooth into a ponytail midway in the back of head.
  4. Take a pin-curled extension ponytail piece and pin it on top of the brides’ natural hair ponytail.
  5. Now take the remaining pin-curled section, spray a light mist of Joico Holding Spray, then proceed to sculpt, smooth, and pin a perfectly styled pompadour. Finish the look with a mist of Finishing Spray for added shine!

THE FLAMING HOT MAID OF HONOR

She’s every ones crush and yesss…she grabs attention too! Her intention is not to outshine the bride, but this Maid of Honor and her side swept Avant Grade style, will undoubtedly turn heads!

How To Style:
  1. After the hair is shampooed & prepped, color the hair using Copper Flame & Red Copper. (Lift hair prior if necessary)
  2. After the hair is colored & conditioned, distribute a dime size drop of the GS Grape Seed Oil throughout the hair and proceed to blow-dry.
  3. After hair is dried, continue to curl the hair in big barrel size curls. Take chunky sections of the hair to curl and pin curl as you go to preserve the curl. (Make sure to curl the front in the direction you desire to style it.)
  4. Once the hair is curled, release the pins and begin to smooth the edges and top of the hair. Take the front to smooth & style her sexy swooped bangs.
  5. Begin smoothing the remaining hair toward the back left side and begin to create an avant-garde styled braid that will drape the shoulder
  6. Now take the swooped section of the hair and using a light mist of the holding spray, sculpt and pin it until you get your finished look! Finish the look with a mist of Spray for added shine

FLOWER GIRL FLIP

How charming is this Flower Girl?! She is simply as cute as pumpkin pie with her burst of chunky blonde highlighted bang. As this young lady walks down the aisle to prep the floor for the brides’ arrival, she’ll mesmerize guests with her adorably trendy style.

 How To Style:
  1. After the hair is shampooed & prepped, take a chunky section of the bang and proceed to highlight.
  2. After the hair is colored & conditioned, , distribute a dime size drop of the GS Grape Seed Oil throughout the hair and proceed to blow-dry.
  3. After hair is dried, continue to press the hair as straight as possible using a flat iron.
  4. After the hair has been straightened, use the rattail end of your comb and create a zigzagged side part.
  5. Next take the front bang section and curl it backward using a 3inch barrel sized curling iron.
  6. Now, using your flat iron, bend the ends of the hair and smooth it to create a natural wrap style for your finished look. For added shine, finish the look with a mist of Spray!

THE RETRO BRIDE

Lets spice this wedding up! Every bride is not always traditional and this retro style will definitely make a statement when she enters the room. With her custom platinum highlighted pompadour, she’s sure to turn heads at the ceremony and turn up at the reception!

How To Style:
  1. After the hair is colored & conditioned, mold the sides down and roll the top section of the hair backward with the Foam. Use 1½ size rollers to easily achieve maximum volume when styling. Proceed to dryer for 45-60mn.
  2. Once the hair is dry, release the rollers, spray a light mist of Holding Spray, and begin to style the hair until you create your desired retro style. Finish the look with a mist of Spray for added shine!
